Engineering for Durability & Safety
The battery in question, as seen in the attached image, bears our classic labeling and the crucial safety warnings:
- CAUTION: Do not puncture or damage the battery.
- CAUTION: Do not short-circuit the battery.
- CAUTION: Do not expose to fire or high temperature.
It also complies with the relevant EC directives of its time (98/101/EC, 91/157/EEC, 93/86/EEC), underscoring our longstanding commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
Simone also inquired about the battery’s chemistry. While specific historical records for individual units are challenging to confirm, batteries of this specification (7.2V, 700mAh AA-size) from that era were typically Nickel-Metal Hydride (Ni-MH). This chemistry is known for its good energy density and reduced “memory effect” compared to Ni-Cd, which aligns with the exceptional longevity Simone has experienced.
